I got orange pilled

The first time I heard the word Bitcoin was 2011 on a podcast called “This Week in Startups”. It’s actually still online at:

It was trading around $5.81 at that time. As of the time of this writing, it is trading around $54k. If we use $50k that is an increase of 860485%.

I thought to myself, that’s interesting, and continued to focus on my career, startup, and family. That is very similar to the story that I’ve heard from many people that are today heavily involved in Bitcoin.

In the summer of 2019, I began looking at Cryptocurrency again. I read or heard that something called XRP was going to change banking for the world. I started doing some research and noticed immediately that – unlike 2011 where there was only Bitcoin – there were now many other cryptocurrencies known as Alt Coins or Shitcoins.

I also discovered that there were now exchanges where you could easily purchase them. So, I went to Coinbase and purchased $100 of EOS based on an ad or news article had seen somewhere. While I was there I noticed many other cryptocurrencies were available for trading.

One coin, in particular, caught my attention. That one was Bitcoin as it was now trading around $10k dollars. This was one of the initial signals that I needed to learn more about Bitcoin.

At that point, I began a journey down a rabbit hole of education unlike any that I had experienced before. The topics were money, finance, economics, politics, a forced reevaluation of things that I thought I had understood, oh and by the way, technology.
